In a nutshell, I am a woman, mother, wife, daughter, teacher and friend. I am from Brazil and came to the USA at the age of 19. I studied Biotechnology Rochester Institute of Technology, and worked in Wall Street for 12 years, first at Bloomberg LP and then JPMorgan. During these time, I met my husband Marko, got married, and had two children – Isabela and Mateo. I fully understand how stressful it is to try to balance personal life and be a successful professional, who is trying to do it all. 

After the birth of my second child, everything changed. I went through a very challenging period of my life and faced many personal challenges. During this journey, I found Kundalini Yoga, reconnected to my soul and started understanding the meaning of the challenges life presented to me. 

Kundalini Yoga centers my life and through its long history teaches me how be a stronger version of the person I who I always thought I would be.

I am a KRI-Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher, and trained under renowned teacher Gurmukh. I also have a certification in Radiant Child Yoga, Reiki Usui Method Levels 1 and 2, as well as an Astrology certification with Rebecca Gordon, and hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from Rochester Institute of Technology. I am fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

After facing a health crisis a few years back, I promised myself that I would learn how to better handle stress, which has always been a challenge for me. I tried meditation a few times on my own with little success. I could never seem to find the time for myself, could never sit quietly and just be. When I heard about Dani’s lunchtime meditation class for professionals, it sounded perfect – and honestly, it was. There was no need to change clothes or bring a yoga mat. I just took myself to the studio. I was surprised to find that I understood very little about meditation and I knew even less about how to breathe properly. I probably have not taken a deep breath in the past 30 years! Dani explained some of the basics of mindfulness, metta, and kundalini. She taught me breathing techniques that have enabled me to breathe more deeply and to center myself. It’s amazing how calming that can be. I love Thursday afternoons because of Dani’s lunchtime class – I am usually dragging a bit when I get there, but somehow the meditation restores me. I feel relaxed afterward, but also energized. It’s like nothing I’ve experienced before. At the end of Class Dani reads aloud to us – sometimes Rumi, sometimes Buddha. This is one of my favorite parts of the class, because the words always seem to hit home for me. I enjoy the lunchtime class so much that I now see Dani for private sessions as well. I look at it as an investment. She is giving me tools to create a healthier, happier life. I can’t think of anything better than that.

about Daniela Mattos Yoga

 
I founded Daniela Mattos Yoga because I believe more people will reach their goals through the science of Kundalini Yoga. Yogi Bhajan’s vision of Kundalini Yoga enables me to teach others how they can live happier more productive and purposeful lives.  

Through my classes, workshops, retreats and YouTube channel, I have created programming for adults and children in Portuguese and English. By teaching the science of Kundalini Yoga and sharing meditations and exercises to help everyone to have a healthier, productive and purposeful life, I am showing them how to connect and strengthen their mind, body and soul core.

Additionally, I offer meditation and Kundalini Yoga in corporate settings.. After 12 years working in Corporate, I am able to connect and contribute to improve working environment, productivity and increase employee satisfaction.
